First Bourke baby came home today!

Hello Bourke folks! I am transitioning from budgies to Bourkies and got to pick up my first baby today and sat with the other one. Sharing pics of both!

Shimmeree is the brightly coloured one, not sure how “she” is going to turn out, colourwise, but colour is definitely there! She is home with me. She needs a bath, but the black/grey you see on her is tinged with blue and she does have some green that you can’t see here near the base of her tail.

Flutterby is a normal coloured Bourke, which I personally think are quite lovely. Today was the first time I handled Flutterby, and they remind me of my feisty budgie I gave up just this past weekend. (you can see that abbreviated story in my introduction if you are curious!) They took a bit to settle, but they did.


Does anyone know where the names I picked are from??? Ten bonus fun points for you if you do!

I managed to snag a pic of them together at the store, too! Would gladly welcome any thoughts about potential sexes, as I am hoping for a breeding pair, but what I get will be what I get! I am classically a budgie person, but Shimmeree changed that!

Geezz...the "Man From Up Above" sure has created some of the most amazing/beautiful creatures in the universe... and the pictures of your Bourkies are proof of that! Can't wait to hear and see more of these lovey fids :10:
