English Budgie
So Chip has been eating a lot of vegetables already. The bird store weaned him onto veggies so that makes it easy for me. I've never seen a new baby bird have such a hearty appetite! No complaints there. New budgies are notorious for not eating the first few days, but Chip so far has eaten everything that was offered to him (and was looking for more)! :)

Today he tried pellets for the first time today (Harrison's). He took a few moments to realize it was food, but started eating it off the paper. When he looked into his dish with the same pellets in there, he acted like he didn't know what it was. Silly boy! Here he is trying pellets for the first time.

Chip's fluffy head English Budgie look

Pull ups :). Don't worry it's sized so that he won't get stuck ;)

Sooo English. All he needs is a bowler and a cigar photoshopped and he would look just like Winston Churchill.

O I love Chip he is Adorable and eating all befire him eh...you show them Chip...ha ha funny about the pellet being food in one spot and not in another...Love this little guy :)

Look at that darling little guy! Sweet video, Chip has quite the appetite, especially for a new resident. The pet store did you a real favor by introducing vegetables at an early age.

Since Chip prefers to eat off the ground instead of a bowl, I decided to get him a low dish, since I can't have him eating off of a sheet of paper all his life. Well, I guess he can... but anyway, I went and got a couple of these corner dishes. I got a purple one as well. I figure they will come in handy if not for food bowls, then eventually for foot toy bins or shallow baths. I found them in the rodent section... they are made to be rodent "bathrooms". I had no idea rodents use litter boxes :18:. I thought the shape and size looked practical for budgies. He eventually got inside and played in it and dumped it!

So this is his favorite past time when he's not playing, or trying to fly in his quarantine cage, or running around hyper. He lays down with his head in the corner. He pushed the corner dish out of the way :). He's fine, some young English budgies do this:

I saw this fun orange feeder today, and I couldn't resist. It's in the double flight cage for now, on Chips side, which is getting decorated little by little. I need to get going on making him some toys.

I gave him fresh seed, and he didn't come up for air for a long time :D

Ha ha this little guy is Amazing I love all the pics of him and your description of his character. I had a budgie booked some time ago but the eggs were deserted so no babies I think it was the mom and dads first time breeding...then Mr Biggles came along and I didnt ask again but maybe down the road a bit...they werent english budgies though...I love the fluffy face of the english....Chip is so Handsome and such a Great little character too :)

Thank you Mary :). Budgies are amazing little birds. A lot different from the parrots, but I'm hooked on them, and really enjoy them. I'll keep budgies as long as I live! I especially love the English.

Thank you Allee! Many more pics to come.. I hope you don't get bored lol.

He is so cute!

How many budgies do you have? Are the rest kept together, or each separately?

Thanks Don :). Chip makes 2 budgies. I have an adult female named Mink. After quarantine, Chip will join her in the huge double flight cage.

These two are English, larger budgies. They're both hand tame. After I put them in together it will take some consistent work to keep the same level of tameness.

Believe it or not, I didn't start with budgies.... I wasn't interested in them when I was a newbie. I only discovered the joys of keeping them in the past few years, after having parrots 20+ years :D. They're such irresistible cute little things.
