Awww so cute!!! but... O.O she's barely bigger than my caique!!!! I've never seen a galah in real life so, this comes as a surprise (thought they were a touch larger... like 1/2 the size of my maile umbrella... the size of a OWA or something).

They are pretty small, umbrellas I think weigh 400(tiny female) to 800+(large male) while healthy galahs weigh around 270-350.

Funny that you mention a caique, I once had her near my friends caique. The caique had a bigger beak, bigger feet, slightly larger head, but smaller body.

How much does Boris weigh? Rosie is 14" long(average galah size) and weighs around 275 when completely empty. She averages around 285, but is also a very lean bird.


here's a photo of her with me(looking as big as possible with that crest and tail lol), then below a photo of two galahs. To me she looks pretty normal sized, she's just slim.

Pixel, I can literally pick up like that and carry around and she doesn't care so long as she's right side up. But if I flip her upside down? Nope. None of that.

yeah, she's pretty calm about it. I can't do it all the time though, it depends on her mood. And she won't let me hold her like that forever. Sometimes when I flip her over and she doesn't want to be like that she pops her wings and bounces right out of my hand into the air, then flies back and hands on it LOL.

Lol! That makes for a comical mental image. If I flip Pixel upside down she just paddles her feet like she's riding a bike and looks at me pitifully. Then I flip her back over a she immediately begs for skritches. So she clearly isn't too traumatized

Last I checked, Boris weighed around 330. He is a solid galah, a bit bigger than others I've seen, but it could be the picture making Rosie look so petite.

I think that picture makes Rosie look smaller than she really is. She looks pretty average. Did she come to you that easy going? I know that she was in pretty rough shape when you got her but not sure about her attitude. You have done such an amazing job with her! I am so glad that I pm'd you before bringing home Nigel, I am having such fun with him! I just love having him flighted!
Nigel weighs about 274 at 11 weeks, just wondering do you think he will gain a bit before fully grown. He looks smallish to me.
