I have a question for Eclectus owners and breeders.

I’m thinking about getting a male Eclectus to be a companion for Rudi. I’m not planning to breed, I just like the idea of having another bird, and I thought a male Eclectus might be a good match for her.

But I’m not sure… do you think they would get along, or could they fight—especially Rudi?

How can I tell if she would accept another bird?
And does the age matter? Should he be younger than her or older?

Or should I just forget this idea completely? 😂

I wouldn't do it. They may hate each other. They may be indifferent. They may love each other too much and try to breed. Don't get another bird unless YOU really want one. Two birds is much more work and more worries than one.

I really want another bird and I feel ready for it. I was thinking of getting a different type of parrot, not an Eclectus. But then I thought, why not get a male so Rudi can have a friend? The problem is, I don’t know if she will accept him 😭

I think a different kind of bird would be a better idea than a male Eclectus, as long as you understand that Rudi and NewBird may not get along. What other kinds of birds appeal to you?
