My YNA is getting his wings and nails clipped for the first time from the bird shop near our house he has been flying daily (we let him) cause he was a little and he needed to know how to fly. he doesn't get handled much so I was wondering if it will stress him out? and how will he be after his wing clipped. I plan him to teach him to step up after his nails are trimmed.

May I ask why you want him clipped? If you feel it can wait until he's a little more relaxed around people and being handled (wings stretching exercises etc) then I would wait until then to get him clipped as personally I wouldn't want him stressed out and irritated and then not even be able to fly properly in a huff afterwards!

Claw trimming is slightly different but I think that's a little less traumatic (if done properly and no quiks are caught) and also one of those... better to be done things. Does he have claw trimming perches/toys? :)

From my experiance with Amazones they were not piticular stressed after it was done. But I had a pro to do it. Normaly it is recomended to wait until the bird are at least 2 yers old and well bonded and calme

Yes he is two years old and we want him clipped so he can stay outside his cage and us not worrying about him getting ready to fly randomly

If he's properly clipped he'll still be able to fly off his perch. He just won't be able to gain any altitude. Clipping his wings wont completely prevent him from wandering around the house, just keep that in mind. I have to keep an eye on my goffins because every now and then he'll decide to flap down from his perch and run around the living room.
