Hello everybody, boy, have I not been on in a while!

My aunt is considering adopting a Goffin Cockatoo. She has "put me in charge" of looking up information about these birds. Of what I know, Goffins are loud. Is this true? The last thing she needs is a loud bird! They seem very sweet, and lovable, but the loudness may be trouble. I have been trying to talk her into adopting a smaller bird such as a Green Cheek. Green Cheeks are great beginner birds! She has fell in love with this bird! I would like her to know (me too!) everything of what is to come if she adopts this Goffin.

Any information is highly appreciated!

Thank you very much, I learned some good info. That video is so funny! I think he can dance better than me!

In my admittedly limited 'too experience, they can be quite loud. Flock calls at sunrise and sunset can wake the neighbors...even if they're across the street. Now, they aren't always noisy, but you can count on 2-3 episodes of calls per day.

They also need a lot of interaction and attention from their family...one could say that they're "needy". A bored cockatoo can be prone to plucking.

The U2 we fostered for a couple of months was very loving and cuddly. He bonded closely with me very quickly and, unfortunately, became very jealous of our other fids, especially my Ruby.

All that said, cockatoo lovers would never have anything else and believe these challenges are more than worth the reward.
