I just noticed that Zack has a small growth on his back between the top of his wings. He is going thru a molt right now and has a BUNCH of the 'plastic' sheaths on his head, neck and back. I've been trying to help him get them off but I don't seem to be doing very well at it. Is it possible that I could have caused one to get infected?. It seems to be in an area that he can't reach. He doesn't seem to be affected by it other than it seems to be sensitive to touch.

I really can't afford a vet bill right now, but I'll get him to one if I need to.

Could be a feather cyst or a tumour.

Can you post a CLEAR photo of the affected area?

Please remember that only an avian vet can accurately make a diagnosis of Zack's growth.

If he's currently molting heavily, frequent baths will help loosen and soften those feather shafts and pin feathers. :)

JerseyWendy, I thought I had responded already but apparently didn't do it right so here goes again.;)

I don't think I csn get a pic, it does not show thru his feathers and he won't let me poke around enough to get one.

If it doesn't improve soon I'll take him to a vet.

You should take him to a vet anyway. I don't think you should wait to see if it improves. It could be serious.

I would be concerned about infection.
