I'm so excited, the past two days EarlyBird has started talking. Yesterday I told her to stop it and she told me to stop it.

But she's been saying hi, hello, I love you. I'm so excited and happy.

I fully expected her not to talk. She had started mumbling at bed and shower time and I knew she was practicing words, but I couldn't really discern what they were. This week she has started mumbling while we work around the house. Then all of a sudden she started talking. Her little voice is very gravelly. Sometimes it's the number of syllables and context that helps me understand. But it's so darn cute ♡

She'll get clearer with practice.

Also, Beau morphs the words and sounds he knows into new ones over time to master new words. I think Alex did this too, there was an article on it somewhere. Anyway, his 'I love you' started out as 'little you'. Now it's super clear and the best of his words/phrases. One of the only ones a stranger will know immediately.

Piasa, I've been trying to teach him "I love you" all his life... nope, won't say it.

I can't wait to get an Ebird video; can't wait to hear it. It's hard to do, though... Rbird has gradually gotten more used to my phone-cam. But for starters, I have noticed people here sometimes will turn their phone video on but lie it down... then you just get the vocals, but it's still so much fun to catch their little voices.

I love how our birds make us look bad. People (who aren't bird people) will be sure that all you say to the poor little thing is "STOP IT!"

Oh naturally, she could say any number of the nice sweet nothings that I tell her constantly. But she chooses the negative! What are you gonna do? You would also think I yelled stop it and flapped my arms, however that isn't the case either. She nipped me on the ear and I said stop it and turned my head to which she told me stop it, haha.

I completely borrowed that idea from your vintage RB photo that I was instantly smitten with. So her hat and scarf picture is actually my screen saver on my phone. I have a Galaxy note 5 with Autodesk Sketchbook which is simialar to Photoshop.I just imported two pictures and airbrushed them together.

Don't tell anyone, EB is a smoker.

When my GCC Mango arrived at the Humane Society as a stray bird and I visited her in the holding area, she would say "What's up". She still says it and mumbles things that sound like words she's practicing on. Curious if this will eventually become clearer and understandable. What she does do is making different sounds or noises, which I copy and she seems to listen intently to it.

RB always mumbles words before he says them out loud... one time I heard him saying something like "Ock you" and I immediately confronted my ol' man, told him if something obscene EVER comes out of that bird's beak... well... I left the threat unspecified. The ock-you-mumbles disappeared. I may curse like a sailor at times, but I don't want the bird doing it: he would of course pick the worst time/audience.

CC, that picture is beyond fabulously funny. I love it so much. The cigarette really is a necessary evil for a bon vivant hen about town. I think she and RB would make a glorious pair in their finery.
