Green nostrils

Welp, keep working at it!
I’m trying To see if I can get him into the vets office but they are closed over the weekend. It’s hard because we don’t know what it is so it’s hard to know what to do. Should I keep doing the nose drops? She told me 5 days and so it was supposed to end Tuesday.

green = infection in my book.
Cockatiel seem more prone to nasal/sinus infection, and rhinoliths . Not to be confused with that little structure inside the nare ( forgotten the name)

Diet is important, lots of fresh veggies and or pellets. Seed only diets get them into all kinds of trouble, the lack of Vitamin A leads to nasal respiratory issues.

He is on all pellets and chop and has been for at least a year. I quickly changed his diet after I got him. The vet said the same thing about vitamin A

After many steamy showers (they didn’t bath but just chilled in the bathroom) and cleaning his nose gently with a q-tip (while still trying to set up an appointment at the vet) last night when they were in the shower Storm sneezed and the green stuff is gone! I wonder if it just had to get lose and that took a while. So do you suggest I still bring them in? They are fine otherwise eating, and active. But if it’s something you suggest I still take them in for I will because I know birds are great at hiding illness!

To my understanding, a pellet based diet isn't healthy for cockatiels. My own vet says to feed 50/50 seeds to pellets with fresh foods being an addition.

It's good that his nostrils are clear now! You can always ask your vet if it's worth coming in or just monitor for any changes in behavior or signs!

I went to the vet because the green nostrils came back. She thought it may be a bacterial infection and have me some nose drops. I talked with my vet about their diet and she’s happy what they are on. They get healthy seeds mixed in with their veggies and sprinkled on top of their chop every morning. I’ll look into it though!
