Hi all!! My name is Robert, and I recently adopted my first Green Cheek Conure. I've had cockatiels and lovebirds before but never a conure. I live in St. Cloud, MN, and am a landscaping specialist. I have 4 boys, a dog, 3 cats and now a gcc. They all seem to co-exist as peacefully as possible. This is Clover he/she is a 9 week old gcc, and I am curious as to if there are ways to visually sex gcc. Anyways, just wanted to say HI!!

Hello and Welcome, Robert! Clover is a real cutie!

If you want to know the sex of your bird, you'll need a DNA test. Your vet can do it for you or you can request a sample kit from a lab. Avian Biotech or Research Associates Laboratory are reliable, and I'm sure there's others. You can send in a feather or blood sample for a reasonable fee.

Hi Robert! I am also in MN, glad you found the forum! There are a bunch of great people on here You can't tell visually what your birds gender is. Avian Biotech does DNA testing for $25. Avian Services Center: DNA sexing and disease testing for all species of birds.

You can either have a vet to surgically sex or do DNA sexing.
