I don't know if he does it all the time... Or even if its the same one, because they're identical...

But... I noticed when one of them poops, they make a "grunting" sound? I don't know if its painful or anything, the poop looks normal. Anyone else's conure do this?

Just making sure...

Joe

This is a serious question... I know it sounds silly but I'm really wanting to know...

I don't have a conure, but can honestly tell you that none of my 4 fids neither grunt nor make any kind of sound right before or while defecating.

Mine poops before I even realize what he's doing half the time, no sound.

Is there a chance you may have inadvertently taught them this? They could be just mimicking a sound!

I've never heard of any bird making a noise. I would be concerned enough to call my vet I think. I hope you figure this out!

Years ago, I had an amazon who would occasionally growl when dropping the really big ones...

Is this bird poop trained, and is he trying to squeeze out what isn't there, just to be picked up?!

That sometimes happens with conures when poop training is too strict...

My amazon occasionally grunts a little when he poops (usually in the morning or he's been hanging out and holding it, when it's a really big poop). Is you bird also straining hard when pooping, or just making a grunt?

It doesn't look like he's straining. Neither of them did it today. I'll keep an eye on it though. I'll watch the poop for irregularities as well..thank you :)

Kyo grunts occasionally for her big morning bomb.

Tiki grunts occasionally. Kind of a little squeak. She also lifts her wings up for the really big ones LOL

I havent seen it since i posted, of course. lol. Theyre not trained to poop. I think they hold it though because when i get home they both have pretty big ones :) I have been giving them this mixture that has some seed and dried fruit, i might stop that. Usually they eat zupreen pellets. I give them treats as well . . . not sure if the new food is causing anything, but ill back off that and see.

THanks again :)

Our amazon raises her wings when she poops . . . lol

My bird made a sound today when pooping... No strain that I see. The poop looks normal, wet (not runny), green and white. Doesn't poop any more or less that I notice. They're not trained to poop at any certain time or way. Everything else seems normal... Both my conures eat the same food and not lethargic or any other concerns ... I've read some birds just make a little noise? I'll keep a really close eye though...

Yeah... I don't think it's every time...
