The breeder told me my baby would be ready this weekend and he'd call me to set up a time to pick our baby up but I still haven't heard from him.

Give him a call. It will put you at ease, and you'll get a better idea if the baby is ready.

Definitely call him . You do need to know what's going on with the chicks and their approximate ready date so you can be prepared , not like you arent though , lololol.
If I was the breeder I would expect phone calls from potential buyers.
Just my two cents :)

Being a breeder I expect calls form my buyers as sometimes i get so busy i don't have time to call them. If a customer doesn't call back by the time their baby is weaned i take it their not interrested & will sell to someone who is.

well I already have the deposit down on my baby, when I picked my baby out I put down the deposit to hold until weaning. I just don't want to be too obnoxious by calling him or get on his nerves.

Jewels I used to be like that and keep them up to date but these days my priority have changed & my family needs me more. My aging Mother is more important to me ATM.

Give him a call this evening when he is not so busy with feeding birds and cleaning cages. I'm quite sure they expect to get calls from buyers, and won't feel like you're being a pain.

well I did call him and left a message just said I was curious how things were going. Hopefully I will hear back tomorrow.

I agree with you jewels04. He should make a point to give you a update.
Do you have a deposit on this chick ?

well I did call him and left a message just said I was curious how things were going. Hopefully I will hear back tomorrow. Because we are now a week past where he said it would be. And I realize that babies wean at their own pace but a call just to keep us up to speed or even an email would be nice.

Yes of course it doesn't hurt the breeder to touch base especially when the baby was promised for the weekend & is now heading into the next weekend.

I sure do hope you hear from them soon. I am sure there is some good reason for the delay.

I can imagine your more than excited.:D

I sure hope everything is ok with your baby. I am hoping he just forgot you were supposed to come last weekend. If he has a lot of babies maybe he lost track of when everyone was coming for theirs. Keep us updated.

Thanks everyone, guess I'm just dissapointed I was thinking our baby would be home soon.

Well I left a message yesterday and still no word back. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt he probably works so couldn't call me back yet. Hopefully i'll hear tonight and who knows maybe we'll be able to make an appointment still for this weekend.

Yes we did put down a deposit on our particular baby and it was marked for identification. We put down roughly half of what the bird costs to save until weaning.

I hope you hear from the breeder soon. I can only imagine how frustrating and nerve wrecking you must feel.

Well looks like next weekend our baby will be coming home. Just got an email from the breeder apologizing for not getting back to us and said he will be in contact with us next weekend to pick our baby up.

Glad you heard from the breeder :)
I'm sure you feel much better and now you can look forward to bringing home baby :)

That's wonderful news. I guess the breeder just got busy.

I am so sorry! Yes keep calling him, I would say. I know now that I got extremely lucky w/ my breeder. I originally wanted a normal greencheek. Well there wasn't one avail at the time, but she gave me a deal on either a turquoise or a cinnamon. I picked out my turquoise and I banded her, with my breeders help, and then got to go see her every week until I got to bring her home last night. I did bring her home not fully weened as I wanted to finish the process so we could bond even more. My breeder is only 5 miles from me though and I know if I have any problems she is there to help. Don't be afraid to keep trying to reach your breeder. This is your baby and you have the right to be informed on its progress.
