Well, today was a great day! I did manage to get Kiwi out of the cage today, I let her go on her new playstand (which believe it or not, I was able to take her off of with my hand!) She sat outside with me on the front porch today, she loves kids, so everytime a kid walked by she vocalized loudly! When my daughter got home she and I started to talk while I was holding Kiwi, Kiwi started chiming in! It was very fun to observe, she usually doesn't get too vocal when I'm around her! I was able to take her outside several times, play with her on the floor, and sit with her on my lap! She even watched from our island while I made her birdie bread! She would fluff up and ruffle her feathers, when she did that I would tell her how pretty she was and get very excited. Well she kept doing it over and over again. Now I am wondering if she was reacting to my reaction or if she was just kind of "itchy" what do you think? It was really cute never the less! Our best day so far! I hope she doesn't forget everything by tomorrow!

It sounds like you're making great progress with Kiwi! :)

Yea for Kiwi. Sounds like she is starting to believe she's in a good place. Don't get discouraged if she does have a few setbacks, you are making progress. Great that she loves kids. :)

lol she was reacting to you chatting to her!! nut does the same kinda thing, i see her all fluffed up an say, whats up nut?? in a girly voice, she de-fluffs an fluffs again, sometimes with eye pinning before bowing for a head rub, but if she is vulture like and all her feathers are pointing to the floor, means she's annoyed over something lol

next time you get that reaction treat her :) oh nut also gets excited when i am preparing meals!! :)

This morning she seemed much happier when she saw me! I sat and ate whole wheat pancakes with her while she was in the cage, she loved them! I did take her out of the cage, probably not as slowly as she would have liked, I felt a little guilty for not giving her more time, but it was followed with lots of treats! We went outside on the back porch, I was hosing off the porch and she seemed a bit interested, so I set the hose on mist and she seemed to love it! She then crawled all over the lawn furniture while I was hosing! I turned around and found her on the porch just walking around investigating, crawling up the hose etc. That is probably the most exercise this girl has gotten in ages! I hope she is realizing that this is a good safe place, I feel accomplished with every little step. Parrots are so different than dogs, every little step means so, so much! It is so rewarding to get the trust from these babies!
