Happy New Year!

Well! 2015 is an hour old already here in hot, humid Newcastle. Forgive me, but my first ponderings for the year are that I hate fireworks so much, I could just spit! Everyone's setting off bloody bombs all around the place and my birds, my dog, both my cats and my adult (autistic) son are yodelling in horror!

Why do people feel the need to blow things up like that? Yeah, it might be a pretty effect for five minutes, but for the next day or three the fallout is awful and we asthmatics get to enjoy being housebound while it dissipates. Not only that, but all the Lost Pets sites are positively humming with activity as poor dogs and cats are frightened out of their wits by fireworks. Hah, bumbug! I HATE FIREWORKS!!!

OK. I feel better, having said that.

Moving along, I'd like to wish every single one of you the happiest of times during 2015. I hope that peace comes to the war-torn and I wish a new calm to all of mankind so that we can re-connect and remember how we really are all brothers under the skin.

My little Mum is 93 today and she has absolutely no clue about that or where she is or who I am. I wish her a Happy Birthday with all my heart and I pray I can find just one small thing that will bring a smile to her face today. You don't realise what pleasure you enjoy in giving things to your Mum until she can no longer appreciate the love behind your gift.

I happen to know it's our Tab's birthday as well and I send her every good wish for happiness and success during 2015. Oh, and please post more pics of Fargo.

I love fireworks and they are illegal in my county. There will be a few of them going off tonight but my animals will be safe inside my house. I'm sorry that they bother so many people because I think they are really pretty.

I know what you mean about the fireworks! My cats hate them! Simon will be hiding everywhere he thinks might be safe until the next one goes off then he will run through the house to find a new safe spot until the next one, and it will go on until they stop setting them off. Sassy will be trying to crawl under my skin with me because I am her safe zone.

Waiting to see how Zilla reacts to them since this will be her first experience since I have had her.

I have seen some incredible firework displays. It's the backyard fireworks in my neighborhood that really make my pets miserable.

Hoping all gets back to "normal" for ya, Betrisher! We here in the U.S. are bracing for the booms and bangs of midnite B.S.

I live in a HUGE desert city where everyone is from somewhere else so its especially chaotic. I worry about the A** HOLES that think shooting their GUNS off is way cool! They don't think what goes up must come down!

Smokey, my dog, will be spastic under the blankets, Doodle, I'm sure is gonna be squaking, I'm gonna need Valium to get them thru it without having panic attacks ......YAY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year to you Trish, the family and the birdies. We don't see any fireworks where we are but there have been a couple of times that the people up the road from us have let one or two off, and thankfully there was no reaction from Bundii.

Happy New Year everyone!
Not a huge fan of fireworks either, especially the really loud ones ... Then it smells bad for ages outside and there's a bunch of trash everywhere.
I really hope Kiwiberry doesn't freak out too bad, it'll be her first experience. She's pushed up right against my neck sleeping right now and you can already hear fireworks in the distance (1½ hours 'till midnight).

Anyway, I hope 2015 treats everyone great!

Happy New Year Trish !
The fireworks were going off around the neighborhood since about 7:00! It is so smokey smelling in here (even with windows closed) and it is giving me sinus problems for some reason (can't breathe well through nose) and I'm tired of smelling it. Poor birdies I just tell myself they'll be okay for one night. Some unfortunate birds endure years of cigarette smoke after all!
