What's uneven about it? It looks perfectly symmetrical to me. You must be seeing thingswhy is his beak so uneven????
Actually, I'm not sure what you're referring to, willist. Are you talking about the dip along the right edge of Salsa's lower beak? If so, the photo you posted of Auggie shows the same type of dip on the right edge of his lower beak as well. Maybe you're saying that Auggie broke his lower beak and that's why he has the same sort of dip in the photo you just posted, I'm not sure. If that's not what you meant, I guess I'm not quite following you.Plax, after looking at Salsa pix again Auggie once broke one side of his upper beak and it looked just like Salsa' beak looks in the photos. Eventually it returned to normal, in other words a smoother look if that makes sense
Thanks TabI LOVE HIS COLOUR! i dont know how to describe it, the red is just wow![]()
Wonderful pictures plax, you should take good ones more often![]()
Hmm, well it makes even less sense then. I say that because willist wrote: "Plax, after looking at Salsa pix again Auggie once broke one side of his upper beak and it looked just like Salsa' beak looks in the photos." So willist says the problem on Auggie looked just like Salsa's "upper beak" ...but Salsa's upper beak has no flaking at all on it. So I'm still unsure what willist is getting atI believe Willist was referring to the "flaking" on his bird's beak, Rea is going thru the same thing right now. I was actually just giving you a hard time, Salsa's beak looks fine. Mine are still so young they really have a long way to go.
Yeah, that's why I'm still clueless as to what he did mean. Oh well.He probably just mis-stated what he meant,
Well, Salsa is only 4. That's still a pretty young Macaw. And the smoothness thing is kind of my point. Salsa's beak is noticeably 'smoother' than many GWs. So that very fact makes it even more difficult for me to understand what willist might be interpreting as damage from a broken beak on Salsa. And BTW, the layer flaking on the bottom of his lower beak is just normal for Macaws. That's the fastest growing beak portion so the outer layer continually flakes away there.Salsa's beak IS smooth compared to ReaRea and his bird in his pic. Also Salsa is much older than ours as well, it would make a big difference in their beaks.![]()
That's not damage. That's very mild beak growth flaking. It's much less than many of them have in fact.I think this is what he's talking about, see the separate layers?
