- Golden Retriever, "Clancey"
DYH Amazon, "Lambeau"
CAG, "Greycie".
Adding to my flock once fully weaned; Green Winged Macaw.
My name is Alan and I come to you from the great mid-west! Wisconsin to be exact. I've had many years experience with birds. I was younger then and due to circumstances beyond my control ( graduating HS, starting college, graduating college) to name a few. I had to re-home my CAG and my Cockatoo. I even raised and bred parakeets back then.
Well times are different now. I'm settled in my career, own my own home, live alone, and now have the time and patience to get back to a true love of mine. Living and bonding with parrots. I currently have an 8 month old DYH Amazon, "Lambeau", a 4 month old CAG, "Greycie", both DNA sexed females. I plan to add the last of my flock in a couple weeks after s/he is fully weaned.......are you ready for this.......a beautiful B&G Macaw, "Fred." I know, "I must be nuts." Not really. So far it's been very tolerable with Lambeau and Greycie. I got Lambeau first (11/11), she has about a 10-15 word vocabulary already! Then I fell in love with my CAG, Greycie. She came home 3/12. Not talking at this young age I guess African Greys (Congos or Timnehs) really don't start til after age 1. Their talking ability is not by any means the reason I've chosen them. Besides the fact that I've always wanted a DYH and once owned an African Grey. I think they are amazing and intelligent birds! Now as for my big guy. Again I've always longed for a B&G Macaw. Like I said earlier, I've got the time, patience, know how, and yes money to properly care and raise them. I know they will all probably out live me even though I'm a vey healthy and fit 50 y/o (b-day 5/24). I will be putting them in my will.
I hope to gain a lot of insight and knowledge from this forum. I enjoy reading all the posts and knowing there are other bird lovers out there!
Thanks for reading my novel and allowing me to join your "flock".
Alan
PS. How could I forget my old man "Clancey" my 12 y/o Golden Retriever!
