one African grey and a male Barraband
hi there everybody, my name is Richard and live in Blackpool and I have just joined your forum,I've just purchased a male African grey about a week ago and I just wanted to join a site where other members can share there knowledge of the bird world. I bought the bird from a bird auction in which it has been plucking its feathers with its previous owner who obviously neglected the poor bird, since I've owned Bella which im convinced its a boy,it is now in a bigger cage, eating and talking well and I've been spraying the bird with water and its feathers are starting to look better. The wife has a Male Barra band called rocky and they are side by side in cages and both are singing away all day,lol

Welcome to the Parrot Forums! Please take the time to view the different forums especially the forum specific for your species.

FYI: Its really not a great idea for your parrots to be together until you have taken your new member to your Avian Vet and run a full blood spectrum, gram stain and specific tests for your area. With your new member's background and you not knowing what your parrot may have been exposed too. I would recommend that you move one or the other to a separate room and do not mix or transfer food, water, etc... between them until your Vet clears your new member.

Hi Richard, welcome :)!

Congrats on getting your new Grey. While it's exciting to get a new bird, it's always a good idea to quarantine a new bird away from exisitng birds, and take them to an avian vet for testing. Especially with a bird with unknown origins or history, you'd hate to spread potential illness to your Baraband. Btw, this rule also applies to new babies straight from a breeder as well :). Best of luck to you.

Hi Richard! Welcome to the forums!

Hi Richard and Rocky and Bella and welcome to the forum. It sounds like Bella is very happy in her/his new lodgings. You will get lots of information and helpful advice here and Sailboat and RavensGryf have given you some wonderful words of wisdom to start with. Enjoy the forum :)
