I've joined this forum for advice on rescuing a blue crown conure with papilloma virus (see my thread in Conure). I had a Linny that I "rescued" from Craigslist about 6yrs ago. He passed away about 5 months ago. I'm not sure what went wrong. He was fine up until the last day that I fed him. I noticed he didn't hop on me like he usually did but I just passed it off as him being busy in his bath. He loved to get wet. I went and took a nap and my 16yr old son woke me up saying Buddy's dead!! That was one of the hardest days of my life. And I still miss him. He had such personality. When I got him, the lady said she had to get rid of him because he bit her granddaughter. She said he was a few months old but couldn't give me a specific age so who knows how old. I've been living with the guilt because in hindsight, I should have known something was wrong immediately but I didn't. Gosh I still miss him. In our care, he learned to say "pretty bird, hi, he lol'd literally, when my silky terrier would cry, he would imitate her and shed get so mad. He gave kisses with lip smacking sounds. He was a huge part of our family. I've since healed and am ready to bring another feathery friend into the family but not a Linny. I'm afraid it wouldn't live up to Buddy (as awful of me as that sounds). I started looking into rescue and when I came across Sonny's story, my heart just goes out to him. He sounds like an amazing bird. I'm just unfamiliar with the virus. I can handle the vet/medication bills but I want to be sure he has the potential of living a happy life. So I wait for a response from the agency. That's my story. I look forward to some guidance on my post in "conure". Thank you forum members.
