Green Cheek Conure Panini
Blue Crown Conure Amos
My name is Jodi and I'm from PA. I am a stay at home mom of two, and we share our lives with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 horse, some fish, and two birds. I have a green cheek conure named Panini who will be two this month, he is like my little best friend and just recently we brought a 4 1/2 month old baby blue crown conure home. I had been researching for the last year about what kind of bird I wanted and how to go about bringing a second bird into the home where one is already "the king". Since I'm a novice bird owner everything is new to me and I often have lots of questions. Reading things online gets me so far but sometimes it's just nice to hear from people who have advice and experiences to share. This second bird is a whole new experience for me. With my first bird (friends are breeders) I was there from the beginning, learned to hand feed, and went through the whole weaning process with my baby and have been together ever since. Bringing home a baby who is almost five months old is so different and there are many things to learn I'm sure =)

Hi Jodi and welcome to you and your flock, both featherd and non feathered alike, we have many members here that are owned by green cheeks, maybe even a few with blue crowns, and you've come to the right place as far as info, advice and shared experiences are concerned from a great group of folks from around the world, and just to let you know folks around here love pics, soooo if you have some to share we'd love to see them, doesn't have to be just your fids (fids=feathered kids) either, we really hope you enjoy your stay :)

Hello, and welcome to the forums i haven't been here long but everyone is incredibly nice and polite. Lets not forget very helpful. Oh and i would love to see pictures of your fids! Tell us all about em'!

Thanks guys, appreciate the welcome! My GCC is super sweet, spoiled and a handful at the same time. He has learned to tolerate almost everyone in my family (not the hubby) and is out of his cage any time we are home. I picked him out of the clutch simply because he was the runt, and he was so laid back he would just sleep on his back in the palm of my hand before I brought him home.

My new BCC, Amos is coming around. All very new to me. He'll be 5 months on the 18th and were still getting to know each other. He just came home last weekend.

my cats are anti social - they were older kittens who were to be released as barn cats

Jodi, great to have you joining us, AND your entire family
Nothing greater in life, than having birds and other pets, they bring so much joy, pleasure and entertainment.

Great looking family.... welcome to the forum. You will find that this is a great place with great people.

Keep us informed on the progress.

Welcome to the forum, this is a wonderful community :) Thank you for posting the great photos, I especially love the one of your GCC, what amazing colours.

thank you everyone for the welcomes!!
I have a thing with taking pictures...constantly! so I will try very hard not to overwhelm everyone with them :D

What is on your list Bogo? My husband told all our friends last night when we were out that there will be an admission fee starting to enter our house (a mini zoo lol) He didnt grow up with animals, didnt know how to interact with a puppy when we got one so I have slowly exposed him to the animal world in the past 10 years! It has been interesting to say the least.
I will post some questions soon in the conure section that I have regarding the new baby. I apologize if they have been repeat ?'s or things I should already know. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far and again thanks for the hellos and welcomes :)

I suggest doing what i did for lots of info without waiting for a response. "Parrots for Dummies" no I'm not insulting you its a great book with lots of information. Me and Thoth have been making leaps and bounds thanks to that book. Anyways once again welcome and i hope you have as good a time here as i have.

-Side note my wife whos a horse enthusiast said your horse was beautiful. I on the other hand think all your animals are glorious.

Welcome! What a great family you have.

Thank you :D...I think I will order the book tonight, hopefully I can get it for my nook! From what I've read more than several people said the book helped big time and I need the help lol

McCaleb, does your wife have horses?

Yes she does 3 Clydesdales all stallions. Also i never thought of looking to see if i could get some for my kindle or my wifes nook... I will have to go look that up.
