My family and I are in the process of purchasing our first Parrot and I look forward to the wealth of information we will get from this forum. We currently have a couple of canaries and a cockatiel and are ready for the big jump to a parrot.

What kind of bigger bird are you thinking of?

Thanks, we love our birds they are great. As for a bigger bird, I really want a Macaw. I love the long tail feathers and the awesome colors. My wife really wants a Shamrock Macaw but was told they don't have the best temperament, so we are looking for a Blue and Gold. Our plan is to get one and then add a friend in a year or so.

I have wanted a large parrot for some time but I never had the time to seriously devote to one but I recently retired from the Military and now I have all the time in the world. This bird will be as much of a companion to me as I will be to it. My hope is that we can both keep each other from being bored. I'm very excited!

Welcome to the forums! Macaws are wonderful companions. Having time available will be very important to socialize and enjoy your flock addition.
