My name is Joel I came to this forum to see if I can find a parrot for my family. 2 months ago our dog passed away due to his age. So me and wife decide we should surprise our two girls with a parrot we really would like a Congo African grey but seem like they are very hard to find at the current moment. we are actually up to rehome a bird as well. Since my cousin has a white cockatoo and when we visit him I see how my girls love to watch her play with her. I also came to this forum since there are a bunch a scammers I work for a major airlines in the pet shipping department and it is sad to here the scams that are out there. So wish me luck hopefully my search can end here. Thank you

And your vision of having a parrot should include lots and lots of mess, some screaming, destruction of stuff, phones, wood work, furniture, remote controls, to name a few, sacrifices, life style changes. Its not easy to find a parrot sitter if you plan to travel without him.. besides non stick cookware with toxic deadly off gasses when heated, killing burds on any level of a home in seconds, many other things have tge non stick stuff , space heaters, air fryers, ect. You have to research and be mindfully. I use cast iron, glass and stainless steel to cook with. No scented plug ins,

Welcome to the forums, Joel! My deepest condolences for the loss of your dog.

Congo Greys not easy to find, and yes, scammers are horrible problem. Living near a big city (Houston) offers greater chances of re-home or possibly networking through avian vets. The good news is working for a major airline brings flight privileges - might find the perfect bird elsewhere and fly yourself out and return with bird in carrier. (if you work for who I think you do.... they don't allow cockatoos in the cabin, so you're good to go with a Grey! )
