will have a baby sun conure in a few weeks
I just found this site while doing a search for how to make your own bird toys. I had birds when I was younger, parakeets, cockatiels, and finches. Mu parents had a yellow nape for about 25 years but it recently passed away. I have been wanting a bird for quite a while now. I love the color of the sun conures they are so beautiful. Well the other day I went in the pet store to get some angel fish but come out with no fish and a deposit down on a baby that was hatching. I am suppose to go tomorrow to see them and pick one out, and hopefully it will be a female, fingers are crossed. It will only be two weeks old but I will be able to start spending time with it and feeding it so it will bond with me from the start which I thought was pretty cool to be able to do, and then when its older I can bring it home. I am so excited and can hardly wait to get my new family member to join in with the rest of my clan. I have a 10 and 60 gallon aquarium, 7 chickens, a german shepherd, and a miniature horse that thinks he is a dog...lol. I am taking this time to learn all I can about them and getting all the supplies to make a happy home for her. Now to pick out a name, its harder than I thought it would be:15: I guess I will just have to wait until I see her to decide. Glad to have found this site and will be spending the next few days looking around. Looking forward to getting to know everyone :rainbow1:

oh congrats!!! one thing I do have to warn you about a sun conure is they are LOUD I've had two in the past and they were the loudest birds I have ever owned and so are all suns i have ever met! But they are very sweet birds and are total clowns you will never be bored :P I wish you the best with your baby!!!

I guess I have been having too much "bird brain" lately. I had a dream last night I was working at a pet store taking care of the birds..... GREAT DREAM!! :red1::blue2::rainbow1::yellow1::whiteblue::blue: :)

Welcome
Sorry for you loss, heartbreaking
Good luck with your new addition

Enjoy the forum

bamagal welcome to the forum. You will meet a lot of people with a lot of knowledge about birds. All will be very helpful here so enjoy. As someone else has already said sun conures can be VERY loud. Sometimes only a little and then sometimes all the time. If the noise doesn't bother you or you family good luck. Visit the web sites also for sun conures and their care, you will find a lot of helpful information. Again welcome and good luck!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I would love to see pictures of your other pets. Sounds like a fun place to live. That is exciting to be getting a new bird:)

Welcome! You must be so excited, your lucky that you'll get to watch you baby grow up :)

I agree with the warning of loudness, their call is very sharp and loud. Sun and Jenday conures are one of the few birds I know I can never live with haha, in countray I do not mind the call of a macaw. That goes to show you how loud they are lol

Welcome and congratulations. Bonding with a BABY will be so much fun!! I didn't get my sun until she was nearly 7 months old, still young but not such a little baby.
And, as loud as they are, the day to day didn't bother me at all. It was just how my house sounded, normal to me. When Georgie was mad about something, then i have to say, i wanted to go jump out a window or something, haha.
Can't wait to see pics.
