Yellow Sided Conure (Sonny)
Hi,

I'm Charmaine (Charlie) and got my Yellow Sided Conure yesterday. He is coming up 9 weeks old and a real cutie. I say he but 'he' could well be a she! We have called him Sonny.
Already he's taking fruit from our fingers and whistling back to us, we do 3 whistles and he does 3, we do 2 and he does 2 etc.

He has been fed on a seed diet until now but i want to move him to a Pellet diet, where is the best place to get Conure Pellets from, i'm guessing online will be cheapest (plus no where local ish to me seems to sell them) also which Pellets are best to use?

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi and welcome to the forum : )
Sonny sounds adorable!
I like to use TOPS (Totally organic pellets) brand pellets and/or Harrisons . I purchase them both online because I can't find them where I am at.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Im a bit confused now as ive been given conflicting information. I just phoned the Aviary/Breeders who i got Sonny from to ask if they sell Conure Pellets and was told that they are much better on Seeds and she has never managed to get her Parrots to eat the Pellets (her words were that they would rather starve than eat them)
I said that my online research showed that they are healthier on a Pellet diet (with daily fruit and veg) but she disagreed.

Am i right in thinking Pellets are best for my feathery friend??

Thanks,
Charlie

Hello and welcome to the forum:)

I give mine Pellets and seed, then just mix the 2 together.

Thanks for the reply, do you find yours picks the seeds out and leaves the pellets or will eat both?

Also where do you get your Pellets from? Anywhere online you can recommend? Thanks :o)

I feed seeds , pellets and fresh fruits and veggies. I think seeds are important for them , just not an all seed diet.
