Hi all. I just purchased my very first conure ever, I have had budgies before quite some time ago. I live in Ohio, near the Toledo area. I have three children that picked him out for my birthday surprise. They were planning to get me a budgie, but got out of control. They started with a large cage that would house a flock of budgies, lol. Then we travelled around town looking for the perfect bird(s). I was thinking maybe a lovebird, but didn't find any.
The first store we went to, they had a sun conure that we were warned was nat bonding with anyone. There was also a green cheek that was very skittish that wouldn't let anyone touch him. The next few places only had finches or budgies. Then another had both a peach face and a dusky. They seemed sweet, but were very into each other. They wanted to keep them as a pair. I was worried that they would bond with each other and not us.
At the last store, we met and fell in love with a Jenday Conure. He is beautiful and friendly as can be. It immediately took to all of us. My son chose his name "Yoshi". He was hatched August 5, 2015. He loves snuggling, and sleeping in my long hair. I am working on breaking him of chewing on earrings and rings though.
I look forward to having a place for questions to be answered.
