Hello everyone. I'm Julia, a member who has just recently registered. I am fairly new to owning birds, having only a parakeet who passed away last December. I am looking to own another bird, however, I was hoping to get something a bit larger, perhaps a Cockatiel? I'm certain that it would probably be the best choice for what I want as of late. Here are the qualities I would like from a bird:

*Quiet
*This is not essential, but I would like the bird to be cuddly and/or playful.
*Good with children (I underlined this because it is extremely important.)
*Something smaller-medium sized, I'd say about 15 in. would be good.
*A bird that is less expensive. (Not as far as vet bills are concerned though lol.)
*A friendly bird, not known to be timid or aggressive.
*And preferably something able to fit in a cage that is 32Lx20Wx53H

Well, that's about all I have to say. Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum. It sounds like a cockateil would be a good choice:)

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am sorry for your loss. I think a hand reared cockatiel would be a good choice. If kids are going to be handling the bird, it is imperative that the bird is well adjusted to begin with. Our birds came from breeders who handled them and they were handled by kids as well. Since I have three children, this was critical for me. We have super birds as a result--a Quaker and a Blue Crown. As far as noise level, it will depend upon the bird. My sister's cockatiel could make quite a racket, but it wasn't all day. Good luck!
