Pineapple Green Cheek Conure-Fred-Hatch date 3/5/13 --- Bourke parakeet- Pinky - home date 11/27/17---CAG-Chicken Lily-home date 12/1/17
I have had birds on and off for as long as I can remember. After the misses made me get rid of all my birds back when she was pregnant 5 years ago she finally let me get another bird. I ended up getting a Cinn Green Cheek that is about 2.5 months old now(Fred). He/she(idonno) is a awesome little guy. Its only been home a couple of days now(went to the shop everyday while getting weaned) and it comes right out and gets on my shoulder when I open the top. He also hates not being on me. I put him on the stand and he'll just fly right back to me. I think the longest he has been on the perch has been 10 min and thats because it was by the window and I was outside.

Anyway just wanted to say hi.

Welcome to the forum!

May help to teach him how to forage for food, treats and goodies so he can remain busy for longer periods of time! Also, since he likes flying, teach him to fly only on cue, or to fly to certain locations!

Is that a pic of him in your avatar? If so, looks like your new little buddy is a pineapple! (aka cinnamon yellowside aka cinnamon opaline!)

Welcome to the forum, your Freddy is a beautiful bird. I have never owned a green cheek before but I had a sun conure. I was so impressed that conures love to cuddle. They are definitely special, peace.

Yes he is my avatar. It was sold to me as a pineapple but it had far less red than the others in the clutch.(parents were cinn/pine)

Welcome to the forum, FreddyCheeks :)

Thanks

Yeah he's definatly my cuddle buddy.

Red does not make a bird a pineapple or a yellowside! It's the yellow! Do you know which parent was which mutation?

BTW, here's an image of some green cheek conures. Left to Right

Normal - Yellowside - Cinnamon - Pineapple

And here's a photo showing a pineapple and some yellowsides with a high amount of red coloration. As you can see in this photo, these birds have a lot more red in them than the above birds - but it doesn't make them a different mutation.

I have no idea what color was what sex(parents). Just know that one was a cinnamon and the other a pineapple.

After looking at the pic I can see that fred is the pineapple color. :rainbow1:

If you knew, then it may or may not help to sex Fred! If Fred's mother was cinnamon, then that makes Fred a female! If Fred's mother was a Pineapple, then Fred could be either sex!

I really love that photo of Fred with his/her wings open! Love those colors!

Yeah he's a goof ball. Here's a pic of when he fell asleep while I rubbed his belly.

That's adorable!!! Tonight, I stopped by a couple of pet stores. One had a cinnamon green cheek (mostly enjoyed hanging from side or top) and the other had 3 normal green cheeks (one was very curious about me and wanted to chew on me!), a cinnamon (loved to walk around cage hanging from the top!) and a pineapple! They are so silly and cute!!!
