Hello, I am new to the forum. I live in Canada, I have a huge obsession with toucans but unfortunately quite a few are cites animals which make them extremely hard to get in Canada. I have kept many parrots in my life. Joined the army when I was young and had to get rid of my parrots unfortunately. I am now out and am looking back into parrots.

Since most toucans are cites there are a few that are not first on my list is the chestnut-mandabill is this a species that can be found for purchase in the United States?

Second is the aracari toucan

Any help would be great.

Welcome, and thank you for your service. Not familiar with either species; don't believe they are plentiful in the U.S.

Good luck, and keep us advised how your search progresses!

I did a search and although this place is not in Canada but in California USA they may be sble to direct you to where you might find a good breeder close to you

Also if you are considering a Toucan I presume you have done a whole lot of research on their needs already but just in case and for anyone elses information reading this thread from the little I have read about them they require an awful lot of care and looking after aswell as a very specialised diet ...this is a link to a blog I found about someone who owns 3 of them and their experience of owning Toucans. As well as a specialised diet Toucans are extremely active needing very spacious cages too
