Hi everyone,

I am a new bird owner and I bought a 3 month old lover bird yesterday. I got her home and she is very quiet and not moving, and I understand that can happen since she is new to her new home without her other siblings around. But she sleeps a lot and it is starting to worry me a little. She ate some and drank some water, but she is sitting on there preach with eyes closed. I'm starting to wonder if she is sick? There are times where it looks like she is tail bobbing, but I am not too sure. I attached three videos below. Any insight/suggestion would help!! thank you! The files won't attach so I had to to upload to google.

Welcome to you and your lovebird! I must confess the lack of familiarity with lovies, so understand my comments and questions may be too generic to help. However, many members have vast experience; hopefully they will post advice!

Did you acquire her from a breeder or retail store? Did the seller advise whether 3 months is post-weaning for lovebirds? Were you able to spend some time observing her behavior prior to purchase?

What is her diet? Can you upload a pic of her droppings? Are you sufficiently experienced to know what normal looks like?

Please forgive the questions, just trying to form a baseline. Many birds are subdued after rehoming, so hopefully all you see and what you have shared via video is normal!!

When I first got my lovie she was pretty inactive for a week. She only really moved to eat and to chase me away. She's fine now though we still haven't bonded much.
