Eclectus male
Hey everyone.
As some of you know I inherated my mums parrot billy.
He has being fine this past year, but lately he is chewing. Nothing in his beak but he
keeps chewing. His diet is good and veried in fruit and veg.
any ideas to why he is doing this?
Im a worried mummy. Xxxxx

Chewing as in like a "Grinding Sound"?

Birds will do this when they are relaxed (i.e. often before bedtime). It is simply their way of using the hard lounge to scrap away anything from the inside of their beak.

If you mean chewing feathers, it could be due to stress or diet or boredom. But it sounds more like the first one which is similar to how we clean gums with lounge.

Birds are known to grind their beaks like its been mentioned above. At anytime your unsure of your baby's health and its been awhile since you've been to the vet clinic for a checkup, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them checked. :)

Yep, beak grinding is something they do when they're content and relaxed. :)

Its not the settling down to sleep beak scraping sound. Its like he is chewing something, but there is nothing in his beak. He does it for hours at a time while sat on me. He doesn't seem relaxed atm. I think one of my house mates are scaring him.
