Hello Everyone!

I'm new here and would love to here as much feedback on this topic as possible. First, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right area, so mods please be gentle on me and redirect as needed.

I want to build a serious aviary to house mostly Macaws. I want it to be a professional structure. I understand it's going to cost, that's not really the issue. I'm in the planning phase at the moment and want to start looking at material costs.

I want the dimensions to be approximately 30 feet long, 12 feet high and 15 feet wide. These are some what flexible to me, so if there is something already made out there that exists (I've searched EVERYWHERE but haven't found anything) please let me know.

I was thinking about going stainless steal panels for the primary enclosure component attached to some type of pole (not sure what material).

I'd like the shape to be rectangular considering the dimensions and I would plan on having tropical plant life in it as well.

I've thought about using the mesh netting but I think Macaw's would go through it like butter if they wanted to. I also thought about doing a geodesic dome too.

I guess the issue is I can't decide what the best bang for my buck is. If anyone who has a current large size aviary that houses macaws or any others birds could chime in and give me some advice i'd love it.

Wow, I have yet to come across this stuff! This is great stuff, thanks!!

I build my own aviaries and flight cages. If money is not an option then then i could help you build it right the first time. The mesh size would depend on what you want to exclude. Perfect would be 12 ga 1/2 x 3 SS about 750 per 72" x 100' . The 1/2 inch would stop things like coons, cats, hawks, etc. If you went to a larger mesh ,say something more common, 1x2" ,,10 ga SS would be best. I'd pour a sloped slab with a "catch basin" and a drain field. I'd frame with Aluminium tubing and a separate roof . Much like a pole barn structure over a aviary. You would need fans for cooling when hot and protection from cold. Of course all this depends on where you live. The only thing that keeps me from building the perfect aviary is money.

Yeah, money at the moment is a barrier but it won't be an obstacle soon as the savings continues to build. I sincerely appreciate the feedback. My friend works for a private collector who has all SS aviaries, it cost just under 800k, but its a state of the art setup, misters the whole nine.

Anyway, I'm trying to look at the best bang for my buck. But as much information as possible is what I want to get at this point.

Any pictures would be great too!
