Help with molting

My baby quaker is molting and has a lot of hard pins on the head (maybe it's the reason he doesn't want to be petted). How can I help him? Right now, I spray him daily.

Spraying helps, you can also remove them by pinching them lightly with your nails. Only remove the brittle white ones that have a bit of feather poking out NOT the ones with a black base that look like enclosed spikes, those hurt!

Aside from spraying or baths, you can hold him close and breathe warm moist air on his pins, too. My birds have always liked that, and gently rubbing or cracking the older feather sheaths.
