Zora got her nails clipped Monday evening and normally every time I take her, her toes (along with the other fids) sometimes get sore after clipping. Bella took until Wednesday morning to finally stop favoring it, bit Zora still is and It's early Thursday morning. I'm starting to get worried. Is it normal for a clipped toe to take that long to stop being sore? :(

I wouldnt think a toenail clip shouldnt hurt at all. Should be like when we clip our nails, no pain at all.

The only time it would hurt is if it was too short.. and then it would bleed. At least afaik...

They may have cut a tad bit too short and barely cut the quick. Did they do the nail trim in front of you or behind closed doors. If it was behind closed doors its possible that Zora did bleed and the person cutting the nails stopped the bleeding with styptic powder but never told you about it.

My dad took them in.... :( I wasn't able to take them as I had to take a class out of school, and he offered to take them to the bird store. Normally I go with him, but as you already know I couldn't. I haven't seen her since the morning. I'm in school right now (in my computer programming class :o) and I'll check on her when I get home, and I will ask my dad as well. He's been gone since Monday and should be back late at night tonight. Keeping you updated.... :)

It's easy to do it yourself! I do all of my fids and everybody else's. I teach my clients to do it too so they are less reliant of other people. I only cut the very tip as long nails are good for the bird. Short nails can cause serious slips and falls!

Sorry for the late update.. :(

I checked on Zora and she is no longer favoring that foot. :D I called my dad and he said that thy used something called syptey powder on her toe an gave him a discount because they felt sorry. :o I think my dad meant styptic powder LOL. So, I will try to come with him when we get their nails clipped, maybe even try to do it myself, as ConureLady said... Maybe. :o I don't know how hood at that I'll be...;)
