I am still waiting on a couple of perches, and I'm in 2 minds about the toys. Do I leave them in or do I take them out, it's a new baby but I'm in work the day after and I don't want to leave him in a cage with nothing to do,but on the other hand I don't want him scared witless. What do you guys think?

The cage instructions were funny. They had a disclaimer saying that this guide does not include all the instructions.

We were going to position the cage in the alcove in our living room, but when we place it there we decided our new buddy would either hate it or it would cause some unwanted hormonal behavior in the future, as it was quite shadowy, so we moved it to the middle of the wall so it will be in the center of everything.

We have a hepa air purifier/ filter placed on a glass table next to it, is this a sutible location?

It's starting to feel real that in 5 days I'm gonna have a cute, feathery little friend! I'm so excited. My family are so excited!

That looks good, the rope type perches are a good addition you can fix those top to bottom and they like to climb them. The beak is like a third leg,I never refer to the feet as claws, usually its her hands or feet! OH thinks Im nuts!
You must be so excited,is it next Wednesday?
Our cage was moved out of a dark corner too,and on dull days I leave the light on nearest her cage. If its sunny I wheel the whole thing out to the kitchen. I think the pellets contain vit D,Im sure the very experienced on here can give advice on the food with sunshine vitamins.

Yeah, I go pick my new feather-ball up on Wednesday, I really cant wait!

Great cage, great preparation! Congratulations! I can feel the excitement in the air!

Congratulations Stitch.

I feel for you, the excitement, anticipation and nervousness. I can hardly wait either, our Squiggy is coming home on Saturday, and we can barely contain ourselves.

Nice! In your area, you should have sycamore trees! As long as they are in an untreated area(no wiggle room for error), a nice piece of branch would be great!

Flboy I like the sound of a Sycamore perch, I noticed seeds in the garden the other day so there must be one nearby,I will look out for it. It definately wont have been treated as no one seems to know who the land belongs to,hence the local council never touch it.

Government knows who owns the property, after all, someone pays the property taxes.

An advanced Congratulations!

Depending on location, you may want to pull the upper tray and set it aside as they tend to darken the cage.

Regarding the toys, I would put them in the cage prior to the arrival. With a new Parrot, everything is going to be Stressful and as a result, they tend to accept what is there and if it doesn't kill them right-off, it is accepted as part of the overall New World experience.

Enjoy your New Baby!

I'm in deepest Wales Sailboat, not so simple to find out who owns the land, its a long thin strip that hasnt been touched for yonks, but hey.....we have a great selection of wild birds coming to the bird feeders!

For tree branches toss them in the oven on like 160-200 degrees for about ten minutes to kill any bacteria, embedded insects, mold, fungus etc.

I have put Rin's Cage in the office where I work all day and then its a room that we can close up when its his bedtime, so that he has a dark and quiet place to sleep. Its been working out nicely. We have a movable perch that we can take room to room to give him different scenery throughout the day and now that he can fly again, he loves doing that. Good luck with your new addition!

How exciting! Looking forward to updates.
