Hi there! My name's Emily and I'm new to the parrot owning world. I've only ever had budgies before and I help a friend handraise cockatiels but quite recently I discovered how much I liked Galah Cockatoos and I brought the sweetest Galah. His name is Bandit and he's 8 years old, he's only semi-tame and his previous owner would be able to stroke him and have him sit on his hand. Bandit won't let me do that which I had expected but I'm taming him and he's gotten used to me just within the space of 6 days. I've managed to get to the stage where I can place my hand in the cage to hand feed him which he happily does. He has such a character too, he gets excited and chatty when someone new walks into the house and starts making kissy noises and whistling at people.
Once Bandit is tamer, we hope to expand our flock. Its going to be a long process but I'm hoping by Christmas Bandit will be able to come out of his cage and sit on our shoudlers whilst we all celebrate Christmas.
