Hi everyone, I am from New Zealand and just purchased my first Galah, have owned Budgies and Cockatiels in the past but this is a whole new learning curve. Though a very exciting one, am waiting on DNA to find out gender of our new baby, but at this stage, is weaned and weighs 200gms, according to breader it is a runt but it is super friendly and spends a lot of time out of its cage on both myself and my daughter. Going into cage at night. It does fly a little, e.g. across room, but not often, i am hesitant about getting wings clipped am hoping to get hold of a harness though. I look forward to learning more from here and thank you in advance for any suggestions or help with our new baby.

Hi, and welcome. We have several galahs on the forum, so hopefully you'll get plenty of replies to any queries.

Hi - welcome to the forum. I don't have a Galah so I can't help with any specific problems. I don't have young birds either so I can't help you there. I does sound though that is has settled in nicely.

Hello, Welcome to the forums! Glad you joined us. Congratulations, I love the gorgeous galahs.

Welcome. Galahs are fantastic parrots. I have a 12-year-old male. He's always had his wings clipped but he can still fly short distances. Galahs are VERY aerodynamic and can fly fast and far with minimal effort, so if you elect to keep him flighted, I'd absolutely teach him to wear his harness and use it to get him out and about. Mine is very social and I take him to tons of places. He loves visiting rehab hospitals, churches, club meetings, schools, and retirement homes. He will go to anyone, isn't prone to nipping, and he speaks on cue. He's just a wonderful joy. I hope you enjoy your bird just as much.

Hello and welcome! Galahs are so gorgeous!
Are you waiting for the DNA to come in to decide on a name? Can't wait to hear what you decide on and to see pictures of your new baby:)
