Hey everybody, figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Craig and, my wife and I decided a little over a year ago to bring a baby Congo African Grey into our already exhisting zoo of animals in our home.
We our both scuba divers (hence the name DIR Diver) so naturally we keep SW reef aquariums. On top of the aquarium hobby we have a Bullmastiff (Molly) and a Bloodhound (Ladybird) which is on her way to getting her TDX tittle! We also have a three legged cat which I rescued off the streets as a kitten from some homeless guys picking on her.Anyway, all these animals led my wife to think that since we had the land and sea covered we needed a bird to cover us by air!
So my wife comes home with this grey parrot and man have our lives changed since he came into the picture! He is the funniest dude ever and is definetly the king of all the animals in the house! Ive heard that they can be timid and not so great in a very active house but he is far from timid. He bosses my 100lb mastiff and 135lb bloodhound around like a prize fighter!
So as we became more and more comfortable with him we found a great store by us that is exclusivly a companion bird shop. So, we went and and signed him up for clicker training. Thats where we met a little hahns macaw!!
At the clicker training classes my wife would work with Alvin (our grey) and i would practice the techniques with one of the birds that was for sale in the store. Naturally I fell in love with that baby hanhs and im sure you know where that is going
So Xmas comes along and my wife brings home the baby hahns for me (which we named Lil) and she is the biggest ham in the world as well as a quick learner! This bird LOVES clicker training! Within the first week we already have her spinning, rolling over, send and recall free flight, as well as many others. Granted i worked with her alot while she ws still at the store, but she really started getting the lightbulb over her head once we brought her home.
Anyway, I can ramble all day about my birds and other creature but ill spare you all the already long winded introduction.
So im looking forward to meeting all you other bird enthusiasts and hopefully learniong some stuff from everyone.
