Hi,

Nice to meet you all I'm new to birds, and I'm wiling to and love to learn more about how to take care of them and to bond with them.

I adopted 2 budgies in July, and took over 3 Jenday Conures last week. I have two dogs at home. The budgies are fine, still a bit shy. The conures are getting used to their new environment and they bite @.@ My dogs are very curious about the birds

Never had a jenday, but have both suns and a nanday.....if you want to train your new charges, you're probably going to need to separate them during your training periods at least & maybe permanently if you ended up with both sexes, unless you intend to deal with possible eggs and/or fighting...two males or two females...all males or all females usually get along OK.....

It's a good idea to not let your dogs sit/lay & stare at your birds, if they are too interested...that bothers some birds & makes them nervous.....

They are parents and a child, should be a boy.
I keep the parents in one cage, and the child in another now. I keep them and my dogs separately when I'm not home
I would love to train them, still learning.

I have never had anything but a cockatiel but am learning about other parrots as my top three contenders for when I do get another bird (won't be for atleast 2 years) are the Jenday, Quaker and Black headed Caquie. However I do advise keeping dogs and birds seperate even when you are home. If you have the birds out have the dogs somewhere else if the dogs are out have the birds caged. Atleast this is what I do because I don't want to chance any accidents. My dog is also extremely interested in my bird but don't let him linger at the cage. If he is sniffing and walking around the cage then it's ok because he's investigating but if he stops and stares for 3 seconds or more I tell him leave it and he will come sit by me.

I keep the birds caged when I'm with the dogs in my room. If I let the birds out, I will keep my dogs in the living room
My friend said the Blue Headed Pionus is a good choice too
