My name's Jasmine and I'm from New Zealand.

In a few day's time my new African Grey baby will be coming home.

I'm very excited, this is a dream I've had for many many years finally coming true.

I look forward to chatting to you guys!

Congratulations! I am picking up my baby today! It is actually 3am here and I am so excited I can't sleep! I too have had this as a dream for many years. How old is your baby? Boy or girl, name?

Hi Jasmine

Welcome to the forums... I only joined last month, and I'm still reading...

Thanks for the welcome.

I know how you feel Brianlinkles. What's your birdie?

His name is Heathcliff. He's ten months old now. I've been paying him off the past couple of months and visiting to aid with the bonding twice a week in that time :) In a few days will be my last payment!

I figured it's a good times since I only work five hours a day but I'm still financially secure. That way I can have time to spend and still can give it the financial aspect it needs! I've waited many years till I'm in such a position and now I can't wait!

Congrat, good luck and welcome to this family forum

I am so happy for you and I know you will have fun with Heathcliff. They are spectacular birds.

Tainted Kitten, that is so exciting! I love his name. Mine is also a congo african grey. We decided to name her Dorothy, because my 14 year old thought her red tail looked like Dorothy's ruby red slippers from the Wizard of Oz. I am very excited, my husband and I are leaving soon to pick her up! I have also waited a long, long time to own a grey!

Correct me if I am wrong here, but somehow I was under the impression that the Timneh's were the ones with the red tails, and that Congo's did not have red tails?!?!? But I may be wrong, and probably am..LOL

Other way around :) The Timneh's don't have the bright red, the Congos do :)

Timneh's apparently cost about $15k here, they are uncommon. The Congos like mine are about $3k-4.5k

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me, and I just googled it, and you are right. I guess that is what I get for listening to people who work in petstores...

Hehe they're not all that bad, some do know what they're talking about, but I agree about those which hire those on minimum wage just because they can... (I worked in one a couple years ago and some of the staff were very knowledgeable, others...not so much!)

Congrats on the new baby, and welcome to the forum!!!
