hi im new here and new to quakers. we have had our new 13 week old quaker for 2 days his name is cookie im new to parrots but have had budgies all my life so any advice is much appreciated

cookie is meant to be hand tame and used to being handled but i dont think this is the case as he wont let me near him and sort of growls so were starting from the beginning and letting him get used to me and his new surrounding slow and steady :)

Congratulations on your new baby! Quakers are delightful companions! You have a great advantage in having a baby to raise and bond with :)

Welcome and congrats on your new baby. He may just be scared of his new surrounding.

Welcome! Quakers Are wonderful little characters with Huge personalities. They are naturally curious. I Love the name too, btw! Your baby will come around. Congrats!! :)

Welcome, we adopted a mature quaker on New Year's Day. She's running the place now.

Hello, welcome to the forums! Quakers are great birds. Give him some time to adjust and he'll be a great companion.

I'm a new quaker owner myself. My bird, Niimi, uses that little growl for lots of situations. It's his major form of communications. That and wraaaack!

:pCuz there is nothing at all opinionated, or attitudinous, about a quaker... :54: It doesn't rise to the level of a sennie, or anything close to a zon or a cag, but I'm guessing they will "out attitude" a conure...

According to what day it is my female quaker can be louder, more obnoxious and far more aggressive than my U2. She's a take charge kind of girl. I shouldn't let them share a room, they learn from each other. Both of them have locks on their food doors because they are wizards at picking locks and letting themselves out of their cages.
