When I have an angry yellow nape I have found 2 methods work best.

As has already been mentioned, a transfer perch.

Another way is with a towel.
Not to wrap her up in.
But when I dangle a towel in front of my YNA he will grab for it every time.
Then I carry him around hanging from the bottom of the towel and put him down (on his back) and he will disengage from the towel.
Would this work for an Amazon that flies directly at you, like a dive bomb? My husband put him in his cage to go on vacation but he got out and I’m stuck getting attacked trying to change food and water. 😨

I honestly don't know.
Bingo the bird I use the towel with now and then doesn't fly.

When using the towel with Bingo he is so angry at it that attack is the only thing on his mind and he doesn't let go.

You have enough history that an an attack is highly like with him flying at you, carry the bath size towel over your shoulder and keep an eye on the Yellow-Nape. If he flys at you, lift the towel to let him fly into it and then let the towel fall to the floor with the Amazon within it. He should be disoriented enough to pick-up the towel with the Amazon inside attempting to eat the towel and place him into the cage.
