I have a canary! I hope that's okay! I just want to make some friends with some other bird lovers.
I know this is a parrot forum, but I have a canary and can't find any canary groups :( (please let me know if there are any, but that doesn't mean I'd leave here) I'm just watching Mickey Mouse Club with my little girl and realized I haven't been able to make many friends lately. Hope to get a chance to talk to as many of you as I can soon!

Canaries are great birds. I would rest assured that you will find many other bird keepers love and keep canaries, too. My mom had a canary for years and years. He was a lovely red factor male, and his songs brightened her home. No one really told my mom that canaries were song birds and not really perch-on-your-finger birds, so she actually worked with him for YEARS to train him to perch on her finger. He didn't LOVE it, but he did it for her. I always thought that was so cute. He was tolerant of my mom, and learned to give her what she wanted to make her happy. Welcome here!

Welcome to the forum! If you love birds (of any kind really) youve probably found the right place. I know canaries aren't parrots, but I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum who have them and can relate with you/answer any questions. There is an "others" section, where a lot of people post about their non-hookbill feathered friends!

So, does your canary have a name?

Welcome to the forum!

Hello and welcome to the forum I have a spanish timbrado canary named Lucas. and I adore him He sings and sings and brings us so much joy. there are other people on here who also have canaries amongst their flock:)

Welcome! Yes, this is a Parrot Forum, but, so many of us are bird lovers of all kinds of birds. I've had several canaries, and my Mom had many as I was growing up. We love any birds...pets, wild birds, poultry...if it has feathers, we love it!

This description is too cute! "non-hookbill feathered friends" My canary is named Candi, although she doesn't actually get any candy ;)

Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome! Canaries are great- I agree! Non-hookbills are also adorable and I can't wait to share my experiences with you, and read about yours. I'm browsing around right now looking for some feathered fun! :yellow1:

I feel your pain!! I watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 24/7 with my two year old right now and thank GOD for forums, where mommy can talk to some grown ups once in a while, lol.

Mickey Mouse Club has taken over my entire world!!! :30:

Oh my gosh!! Antoinette I just watched some Mishka videos on youtube. He is SO smart!! Keep up the great videos; they are a fantastic distraction. I love this place already! :D

Welcome to the forum & a Big welcome to Candi as well! :D I've never owned a canary, tho I have thought about it. I did have a couple of pairs of finches years ago. I loved listening to them & watching them flit around all day.:)

I look forward to hearing all about Candi & seeing pics of her. :red1:

Welcome to the forums, and of course it's ok to have a canary they are a feathered friend as well:)

Hi! Welcome. I also love canaries. I have Pepito, a 7 year old spanish timbrado who still sings all the time. He is my 2nd canary. My first was a red factor named Leo. I got Leo to essentially rescue him from a horrible situation, knowing he appeared to be ill. He was older and was ill but such a LOVE for the year and a half i had him. I was happy to give him at least a little bit of a happy, loving life.
They are sweet little birds!!

You've come to the right place, all of us on here own many different varieties of birds, not just parrots.
I breed canaries, and am currently hand feeding a 11 day old baby, which is one of my customers babies, but mama abandoned the nest, so I'm feeding it until it's ready to be returned :(...I'm going to miss him, I just love the little guy.

I have 2 pairs: Mango, she is a red factor, and Tango is a green american singer, plus 3 babies that fledged about 2 weeks ago.
my other pair is: Snow, who is a dominant white canary, and Twitter who is a variegated yellow & green, with just one baby, they are new parents.

That's adorable and so kind-hearted of you! I bet it is so easy to get attached at that age. My heart just melts for you :(
