what age do hanhs macaws start laying eggs , iam new to this breed i owned quakers before , the reason i ask is because im not sure of the sex , i have been told he is a male ,and iam aware that i can have a dna done , tho i dont need to put him through that

Actually a DNA blood sample can be obtained the next time you get his/her nails clipped. Most birds do bleed a little when nails are clipped anyway, the sample can be obtained that way with very little trauma to your little one (this is the way I had both mine tested ... they never knew what was going on, and it didn't hurt them one bit)

To answer your original question, they mature at around 5 or so. But don't think just because 'he' hasn't laid an egg that 'he' is a 'he'.
