I'm so excited to own my very first Sun Conure! I have experience with birds, but never a sun conure. It was born 5/17 and has yet to be named. I can't wait to bring it home once it has been fully weaned. I'm anxious and excited to love the goofiness and cuddliness (and loudness!)

Any essential tips for a first time conure owner?

Socialization and independence! Be careful not to reinforce screaming by accident...

My sun loves foot toys so I have two foot toy baskets for him to play in. He also loves wood so he has amazon sized wood toys in his cage to chew on. Keeps him very busy so he has no problem being alone in his cage for long periods of time.

My biggest fear is reinforcing the screaming. I have bird experience, but my fiancé does not. We're going to try our best to not let that happen! I have been going crazy buying toys already. Loki is suc ha cute name... we're hoping personality will help us decide!

Loki is a cute name. I used to have a pygmy goat named Loki
Loki means 'rose' in hawaiian. (actually spelled 'loke') but I spelled it loki.

Congrats on your upcoming baby. How close are neighbors too you? I would love a sun, but living in a condo makes it impossible.

Prepare to be entertained. Ducati is always making us laugh somehow. He's also teaching alot about patience lol. I always thought I was a patient person, but he definitely knows how to test it sometimes.
