Hormonal behavior, varies by gender?

Forgive the newbie question, but are there any specific hormonal/sexual behaviors that only female GCCs usually show, and behaviors only males show?

I don't know about "in general", but my girl went from loving me to hating me. She protected her cage and didn't want anyone near it. Biggest change was biting me and making sure I felt it... what seemed randomly at first. She also made these cute cheep noises and tried to make a nest in the space between cushions! Once I worked out what was happening.... Clicker training and getting a darkening cage cover helped.
