How did you pick your Parrot’s name?

Tami, I play fiddle in a pirate band, named The Brigands' and we perform up n down the East coast at pirate festivals. I knew our parrot would be coming with us on close to home gigs, and figure Salty was a good name for a pirates parrot. My sig pic is Salty and I at the Long Island Pirate Festival.

Or just go to youtube and search on The Brigands.

That’s very cool. And yes, I knew your profile pic was a pirate pic. :smile049:

Thx :)

With my budgies, I just came up with whatever name I thought might suit them (except for Rumi, Lara, and Pollo, who came with names, and I really didn't feel like renaming them).

Tiki and Ria were already named, but their names were stupid, and I wanted to give them Maori names in honour of their heritage. It turns out most Maori names on the internet suck (they're just names of random gods, nature spirits, mountains, etc.), but I managed to find the names Tiki and Ria.

As for Noah, I wanted to give him an actual name (no way was he going to keep his original name, "Thor"). I spent forever running names by Mom, when she suddenly suggested the name "Noah".

With my hermit crabs (not parrots), I went with a nature theme to try to give them some sort of dignity, given they were ripped from the wild and suffered terrible abuse in captivity. I adopted all five of them, and I gave them the names Oliver, Lily (she's pink and delicate like a water lily), Kai, Kilimanjaro, and Percy. Percy definitely isn't a nature name, but I decided to give up on the theme at that point.

I steal from other parronts on this website.

When I had set up Floyd's cage Thursday night, and was letting him settle in, I played music.
He reacted the most to Pink.
It is such an Aussie thing to call things the opposite to what they are Eg:- people with red hair are sometimes nick named Blue; but I thought, I can't call him Pink...
however Pink Floyd is a thing so Floyd it is.
I played some Pink Floyd to him today and he seemed pleased, though he was a little tired from singing along to Fleetwood Mac.

I spent 2 weeks with my youngest son this summer, he loves cars and convinced me to buy my bmw m140i. We where talking the 'which cars would you buy if you won the lottery' and we both decided a ferrari would be in the garage. It was at this time we re-homed 'Penzo' my african grey, we though it was a little bit of an omen as we had been talking a lot about 'Enzo' Ferrari, the guy who started the ferrari brand. Penzo was renamed to Enzo...... Its a man thing i guess ;)

I picked my Conure's name with the help of some friends. I couldn't decide on a name so I asked my friend for help. She sent me a whole list of ideas for me to pick from and I ended up picking Kiwi! :orange:
