...curious.....how many of you feed your bird pasta?
>what type(whole wheat, organic, reg)
>do they like certain shapes more than others:D
>warm or cold...or does it matter?...of course after it's cooked ;)

All the time. Usually whenever we make spaghetti, they each get a small treat cup of cooked pasts either plain or with spaghetti sauce (depending on the sauce we are using.)

So, about once or twice a week.

Chicken, about once a week.

Fish about once a week.

And usually either taters or rice of some sort go in their evening treat cup.

Just one or two of what ever we are eating.

I don't cook for them.

I cook for us, and they get some.

I think my dad spoils our 2 Quaker Parrots.

They eat whatever we eat, chicken, noddles (if its mac n cheese or spaghetti,) white rice, chicken fried rice, vanilla ice cream, fruits (Bananas, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples,) vegetables (corn, peas, string beans.) They LOVE to drink ice tea, and apple juice.

But normal noddles, either elbow, or the bow-ties, warm (like right after they get done boiling and are cooled off,) with no sauce.

:green1:

I use the whole wheat pasta or whole grains, and they seem to like any shape. I mix theirs with fresh veggies like chopped cauli, broccoli and carrots. As long as I do a batch finely chopped, even the finches love it:) For the little guys, I usually mix some egg food with it as well.

Any shapes... the spirals are a favorite of the conures and toos. I've even fed my gluten free pasta when there was some left. My Ivory loves rice / glass / asian type noodles more then anything else, also the bean sprout noodles, she'll eat those til her eyes pop out.

We mix the pasta in with veggies too and even coat the pasta with a little coconut oil and throw in grated cinnamon or pepper flakes.

There is pasta in Kiwi's food mix (a cooked mix for parrots) so he eats it every day. Theres like one or two pieces in every scoop. It's the corkscrew shaped kind.

Kiwi also gets spaghetti, mac-n-cheese and certain Chinese/Thai dishes when we have them, though small portions since those foods also have salt and other things he really shouldn't eat much of. I usually buy all organic, or at least "all natural". He REALLY like small raviolis or tortollini (spelling?) with the cheese in them and since we rarely eat those, I'll give him one and make his day. His favorite are any kind of thin noodles, I think he may think he's eating a worm :)

My birds will eat minimal pasta so I quit giving them pasta....I give it to them warm before....

Like us, our birds will eat pasta 24/7 so I've really tried to cut down for everyone. About once a week they get spaghetti, just a bit.

Wholewheat screws, cooked - cold or warm, he doesn't mind. I like adding screws to his chop too because he loves them and some of the chop gets trapped in the grooves and so, he gets in lots of veg. He is very fond of his veggies anyway but it can't hurt to sweeten the deal even further ;)

I also use raw rigatoni to stuff his sead treat mixture into before I bake it. He cracks it open to get to the goodies inside and doesn't eat the raw pasta but it makes a nice, easy to serve (stick into foragers) and easy to hold serving size.

good, I'll start giving it to them again.

I think at one point they got tired of it....haven't given it to them in a few years.

I think I'll give them spirals and elbow.

i feed whole wheat when i can, white pasta as a very rare treat and they will eat any kinds of noodles. they are strange like that lol but the tiels go bonkers for pastas. i dont give it often because its often high in iron so ive been told to be careful with too much iron. but makes great mash mixes :D i should make some today for the fids. may be a good idea, thanks crimson for reminding me of it!

Chili LOVVVVVVVES pasta- if she even hears the word "noodles" she goes bonkers LOL she doesn't get them every day, but does whenever we have pasta in our meals

Ziggy loves pasta. Any kind any shape. I give it to him like twice a week mixed with his fresh veggies. He also likes rice, white, brown or flavored.
