How often can I bathe a fledgling bird?

He's already had one bath this week. He keeps grooming himself I think trying to pick at stuck food. Can I give him another bath? He really enjoyed his first bath. THanks

Daily bathing is fine as long as you keep him warm.

He keeps flying and bumping into things or falling. I'm scared he's going to hurt himself

A baby parrot learning how to fly is like a toddler learning how to walk. There's going to be some bumps and bruises along the way! The instinct is there, but knowing how to do it is a learned behavior.

As there are cons to flight, there are also cons to clipping. Personally, I don't feel that young birds should be clipped at all.


Give her time to learn how to fly and in time she should get better at it! Just be sure to cover any dangerous areas where she might fly to or land on!

Thanks Monica! I can guarantee this will be my first and last handrearing experience! I LOVE HIM to death we have a tight bond but I am just constantly worried about him! They are so fragile at this age.
I do have another question though, now that he starting to eat a little bit of solids, would it be ok to offer him some cuttle bone?

It may be ok but she probably doesn't need it right now. Would be an easy thing to chew up, though!

You can offer mineral block and cuttle bone, he may or may not chew on it. Rarely see youngsters go after those things.
