My bird's cage had three feeder door and a breeding box door but there doesn't seem to be a way to secure it. The doors are flat with some swinging things that fall down to keep it closed. Those are very loose and I'm afraid that something could easily figure out how to open the door. I keep my bird on my patio and we have racoons and possums that like to explore at night. I don't think the bird can open the door but I'm not so sure about the racoons - they're pretty smart. I prefer to keep the cage outdoors as we live in Florida. I notice the doors have a little notch in each one but I don't know what that's for. Ideas welcome. Thanks.

Please post a picture, sure it will make it easier to answer your question ;)

I just use dog leash clips to secure the doors on my cages. The hardware stores have a great range of clips you can use.

As Pedro said, dog clips work GREAT. I also use what's called a snap swivel in Lucy's cage, they're significantly more difficult to open than a twist tie or something similar. any fishing store will know what a snap swivel is :)

personally, dog clips are the way to go for ease ;) snap swivels are cheaper though

I put pad locks on mine...my babies learned how to open the dog clips....lol
