So I got my baby bird home. I was surprised at the poo frequency so I put him in a human baby diaper after I cut a hole for the tail. He fussed some then went to sleep on my arm. Any problem with this if I change him regularly?

only problem i can see is if he was to swallow some of the padding an in nappies they now have that gel stuff blended in with cotton, when it gets wet it expands and holds onto the water

you can get bird nappies

or just put an old towel over your shoulder, etc

To be honest I'm not a fan of the idea of using nappies/flight suits on birds. The poop is just a part of bird ownership, you should learn to deal with it and if you can't handle mess then perhaps a bird isn't the right pet for you. Birds are really messy, even without the poop.

The towel idea is a good one, or you could just put an old shirt on when you handle your bird. You can actually buy vests that go over your clothes with toys and stuff attached that are designed to be pooped on and chewed. Once you learn your bird's body language you can tell when it is about to go potty and hold it over a surface (like newspaper) so that's where the poop goes. If poop gets on carpet I find that you can wait for it to dry then vacuum it up, but usually you can just sponge it off with warm water and a cloth.

Birds and poop go together. If you are not willing to clean up after you bird you do have a probem.

Like it was stated earlier, I would be afraid he may get ahold of the chemicals inside the diaper and ingest them. Why not just potty train him?

Yes you can't put a diaper on your bird for ever! Bird and poop go together, you can indeed potty train him. I would not put a human diaper on him, they are not meant to be used on birds.

Bird Poo? Isn't that the reason God gave us nails? lol

To be honest, bird poop has never bothered me, but my new Alexandrine, Max, has only ever pooped on me twice, and both times he tried not to by backing up and poo on the chair instead. That was due to me not recognising his signals... He'll start getting restless, I'll put him in his cage, he poops and gets back out.

Max is still a baby, so that could easily change, but that's OK, too.

No. Poop staying around his vent is bad anyway. So diapers are a bit of a silly idea.

Potty train him, use a towel or get used to it. As everyones said, it's pretty much a huge part of bird ownership, you're gonna get covered in poop and bird food.

Potty training is easy to do mostly just paying atten. to your bird. Watch him in the cage long enough to see him go potty then keep your eye on him when you have him out. My conure goes on comand on a paper towel or in his cage. my cockatoo in her cage and still have just a like work with the amazon she shows the signs and when i say wait so i can get her in the cage she goes about a foot from the door. I just keep a old rug that can be washed there until she gets the ideal. But a potty trained bird will have a mess up every now and then. Birds and poop just go together

I have a desk mat under my cage and the longer front part goes out right ware the door opens to it works great and is very easy to clean.
