My mother does not believe me when I say that dowel perches are bad for parrots' feet. She continues to insist that I take out the natural perches I have (they screw onto the side of the cage) and replace them with the long wooden dowels that came with the cage.
She says they "don't make use of the middle of the enclosure", which in a way makes sense, but now she is telling me that if I do not put in dowels, that I will have to move my birds into the small carrier I have for them!!!!! (random edit: because " the perches they currently have aren't as long as dowels, and therefore is like keeping them in a small cage" !!!!!!)
I am being dead serious, I do not understand people.
Anyway, she says that if I can "find evidence" that comes from not just one "CRAZY PERSON", I can keep the cage the way I have it now.
Any links to articles, research, or even your own personal experiences are welcome.
